Delicious Ham Gravy!

Delicious Ham Gravy!

After my Mom passed away in 2013, I never thought I’d get to taste her delicious ham gravy again. I had tried a couple of recipes throughout the years but it never came close to hers. I’ll never forget when I tried this particular recipe, as simple as can be, and spooned a little gravy on top of some whipped potatoes. It tasted just like hers and it brought me “back home” to our little kitchen for a few minutes. I use this recipe every time we have ham and it’s fool-proof, even for a sentimental fool like me. 🙂

  • 1/4 stick butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup of flour (give or take)
  • ham juices from the pan

After the ham is cooked, transfer to a platter and wrap foil over it to keep it hot. Put the pan with juices back on the burner and add 1/4 stick of butter. (If you have a lot of juice then cut back on the butter). Once this is melted, add your flour and whisk around to get out any clumps for a few minutes until it develops a nice, rich color. Then add your cup of milk and continue whisking. I add some pepper, to taste, at this point. Cook until desired consistency. Enjoy!
